A collection of my stories, from the past.

Factory 42

Me and my friend BastienA have always enjoyed the fun quirks of the Create mod. The mod basically allows you to do anything, from automating almost every item in the game to building massive drills capable of mining out entire chunks. There are so many possibilities that, honestly, it sometimes feels like everything is possible.

At the start of August, we created a server for ourselves to play a modpack we had put together. It was based around Create, with add-ons that expanded its mechanics, added new machines, and made the gameplay even more interesting. What started as a small project for a few friends slowly grew into something much bigger.

Our host, awdev, whose hardware I had asked to host the server on, was initially just interested in seeing what we were doing. He joined the server to check it out, and now he’s one of our most active members, contributing to the community and making the server even more fun.

Hosting and managing a server isn’t as easy as it might seem. First, you need the right hardware and enough resources to actually run everything. Our server currently has 24 GB of RAM and 8 CPU cores, giving us plenty of room to handle large factories, machines, and an expanding world.

But hardware is only one part of it. You also need players who are actually willing to spend their time on the server. It took me about a month to find the members who now make up our community, and we currently have around 20 members. You also have to think about rules, distributing the modpack, server access, moderation, backups, and all the other small things that keep a server running.

This has been a pretty wild journey for me, and I’m really glad that it turned out the way it did. I hope our community continues to grow and eventually becomes something recognizable to a much larger group of people.

For now, I still enjoy playing on the server every day. If you’d like to join us, you can join through this link.
